I’m writing this on Friday, September 27 at 9:50 AM. The storm passed last night and even though we were 150 miles from the center, the outer bands caused a lot of flooding in Naples as you can see in the above photo. Tin City sits right on the river and is prone to flooding so that photo is not a big surprise.
In our neighborhood there are lots of limbs and debris scattered around but otherwise things are pretty calm. We were very fortunate because this storm was huge—over 500 miles across.
At this time we haven’t seen the worst of the destruction in the Big Bend section of the state because they haven’t been able to gain access to the area. I’m sure the reports will be horrendous.
So today I’m making this short—just letting you know we are doing well and hoping the rest of this hurricane season will be uneventful.
