Waiting
The Royal Palm trees tower
above the roofline of the tiny house.
Its fronds protecting our abode
from the blazing rays of the summer sun.
Perched on cement blocks, sitting
four feet high, the home is tied down
for the approaching hurricane season.
It’s Florida, late summer.
We pace waiting for the monster
to rap on the window,
to charge through the front door,
to bring destruction to our community,
A place not unfamiliar with death
Where we live, where we wait
Fifty-five and over but mostly over
A place irreverently known as God’s Waiting Room.
Are you waiting to start your writing until you have a sanctuary, an extra space, or a nook? Wait no longer—all you need is a tablet and a pen. When you live in a tiny house of 485 sq. ft., there are no extra nooks.
The living room, dining room, kitchen with Murphy Bed on right behind wreath.
For my office, I use a rolling desk that I keep in the bedroom.
Our motto: One in, One out—critical when you live in a tiny house.
Thank you for subscribing to Get Gutsy. Would love for you to pick up a pen and leave me a COMMENT.

I live in a tiny house as well! I am glad I learned to write everywhere before I lived here. Thank you for sharing ...so cute!
I will think of my entire apartment as my sanctuary, which is such a nice thought! With my laptop I usually write lounging in an Adirondack chair in my living room (I know, you were picturing me with a nice outdoor garden for that Adirondack chair or perhaps perched on my fire escape).
