Glad yβall weathered the storm! And yes - here in Charleston for the last twenty years when a hurricane is imminent, they turn all the lanes on I26 (the interstate to get out) westbound. Most necessary! We also ask ourselves here: where would we move? Ironically, so many people who moved away from Charleston because they were sick of dealing with that half of the year I call the season of existential dread (ie hurricane season), moved to the mountains. In and around Asheville. π Apparently still having to deal with hurricanes. π€¦ββοΈ
I thought of that Juliana, heading to the mountains such as Ashville--so heartbreaking. So we will probably stay here and possibly head north for Sept/Oct. which are typically the worst hurricane months here.
We heard. Cat 5. So we stayed . Not Comfort Inn. Comfortable in our lake home far far far north of our Venice fl home ( yes we are privileged, Iβm 73 , my husband 80. Worked hard so please donβt blame !) our home in Venice not on the water. 4 major hurricanes in our 10 years there. Nothing more than minor issues. All times weβve not been there. Grace of gods? Timing? We always plan exit here mid Oct. Iβm a lake girl. My husband prefers the heat! We will be back a week from today. Helping hands for friends and neighbors β¦ we will be .
Wow, that looked like a hard hit on Venice area. We just kept watching it graze the coast. Too close to call. Glad your house survived such an awful storm. Hope to visit Venice one day. Thanks for checking in, Trish
Glad you are all ok. That's what we say, and then, the guilt comes (for me)--what do I say to others who have lost so much??! Prayers and comfort? Does that stop the mold, the loss, the grief? Then it becomes a spiritual struggle-- prayers and no action? How do we act? Send money? What do we believe from the media-- left, center, far right.... these storms of Gaia birth storms within me, swirling my spirit into confusion and body into angst. And what else can I do to stop them? I'll continue to pray, and be thankful for the People who are helping all of you, and send money to the agencies that I try to trust. Trish, I am so grateful that you and Jerry are fine. And I pray for the healing of grieving hearts, and strength to begin yet again.
Thanks Nancy for your thoughtful response. Not sure what we can do. Alll of the above is certainly the right direction. I so appreciate your friendship.

OMG. Hang in there, Trish, whatever you decide in the long term.
Thanks Jan. I guess it doesn't matter where you live. Imagine living in a beautiful place like Ashville and having a hurricane destroy your town.
That should be the lesson of Asheville: none of us, anywhere, are exempt.
Nice post, Trish. You made me smile. Glad youβre okay.
Thanks Cindy, although itβs getting a little ridiculous with these storms.
