Wonderful memories of a great friend! Katie, the owner of our local quilt shop was from Kentucky. Also, completely friendly,( Bless your little heart!), and came up with the craziest phrases that cracked us up. She has also passed on to where her jokes are shared with the angels. Here's toast with cranberry sauce salute to our dear Southern friends who knew how to open hearts to the joys of friendship and crazy laughter.
And: I love this combo of walnuts, cranberries, and orange. In fact, my 11yo and I tried to make a Nantucket cake this week. I secretly switched out regular flour for almond flour to try to be keep it gluten free...and it...didn't work, total fail! Complete mush. But: we both agreed that the flavor was amazing.
Yes, it's a great combination of flavors and simple to make. BTW--almond flour is really dense prob why it turned to mush. Coconut flour is lighter but the flavor might take over. Thanks for posting JJ.
Trish, I remember so many stories about Tobie throughout the years. Many of our cherished memories revolve around sharing food. I love the combo and will try this recipe over the holidays. You have such a talent for bringing stories to life and I love reading your work! I wish you could read to me each night before bed! You are quite the force- thanks, my friend.
Thanks for your tribute to our good friend Tobie. She was one in a million and greatly missed,
Thank you Maria. I think of her often.
